Cripple Creek’s mayor moves on
Cripple Creek is looking for a good man or woman to fill a council seat.
A vacancy was created when Mayor Dan Baader resigned at the May 5 council meeting to move to California for a construction management job.
“I had no clue. I was very shocked,” city clerk Debra Blevins said.
Councilman Bruce Brown was appointed mayor, leaving his council seat vacant.
Letters of interest for the seat will be taken until May 28.
Baader was elected mayor in 2007, defeating incumbent Ed Libby.
“He did a lot of good for the city,” Blevins said. “He was interested in cleaning the streets and making it a more welcoming atmosphere for those who come to visit.”
