A domestic disturbance took a dangerous turn when a woman allegedly stabbed a man in Fountain on Sunday, according to a statement released by Fountain police.

Joyce Freeman, 40, of Fountain, was arrested on suspicion of assault and booked into the El Paso County jail, records show.

Fountain fire and emergency crews treated a man with a stab wound at the Fountain Inn on 650 Champlin Drive about 10:30 p.m., the statement read.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

Witnesses told investigators that the alleged assault took place at a residence on the 500 block of Royalty Place, less than a mile away from where the man was found, police said.

Freeman and the victim had gotten into an argument and she allegedly stabbed him once, police said.

Fountain police did not release the victim’s identity or provide further information on why the man was found at the motel.
