GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Manitou Springs 40, Florence 27
At Manitou Springs: Amelia Schofield and Calla Urban each scored nine points to lead the Mustangs (8-11), who outscored Florence (7-12) by eight in the third quarter to take control. Britney Warren and Lexi Camerlo had seven points each for Florence.
Cripple Creek-Victor 36, Fountain Valley 32
At Cripple Creek-Victor: Senior guard Vanessa Garcia finished with 13 points for Cripple Creek-Victor (5-11), which used a balanced attack to outlast the Danes (8-10).
“All year we’ve been trying to get the whole team in the book, and we did that well tonight,” Cripple Creek-Victor coach Dale Dubbs said. “We were patient enough to match them bucket for bucket and then we just worked the clock.”
Fountain Valley’s Alex Ochoa poured in a game-high 27 points.
Pine Creek 52, Liberty 39
At Pine Creek: The Eagles (14-8) dominated in the second half, outscoring the Lancers (5-16) by 14 after halftime. Aurielle Sutton scored 14 for Pine Creek, while teammate Shannon Kelly added 10. Liberty was led by Haley Roe’s 12 points and Emma Jacobsen’s 10 points.
Sand Creek 62, Rampart 49
At Sand Creek: Sloane Lindsey scored 15 for the Scorpions (14-8), who depended on a defense led by Ayana Smith (nine rebounds) and Taylor Proctor (eight rebounds, 14 points). Kelly Hillick scored a game-high 16 points for Rampart (8-14).
Mitchell 43, Woodland Park 38
At Mitchell: Cassandra Fernandez and Samaria Buice combined for 27 points for the Marauders (8-14), while Tessie Koziol led all scorers with 16 for Woodland Park (4-18).
Harrison 65, Widefield 37
At Harrison: The Panthers (14-8) jumped to a 21-8 first-quarter lead and didn’t look back. Majana McCollum led the Gladiators (15-8) with 10 points, while Tazhane McFail finished with 14 rebounds.
Doherty 54, Coronado 36
At Doherty: Thirteen different Spartans scored as Doherty (10-12) outscored Coronado (2-20) by 15 points in the second half. Shalisa Moffit led Doherty with nine points, while Jess McCallum scored 15 for the Cougars.
Mesa Ridge 67, Lewis-Palmer 37
At Lewis-Palmer: Kaitlyn Mileto led all scorers with 23 points, while teammate Brandi Collins added 10 for the 5A-4A No. 2 Grizzlies (20-2). The Rangers (9-13) were led by 12 points from Kai Brown and 11 from Morgan Griffin.
Palmer Ridge 48, Discovery Canyon 31
At Palmer Ridge: Palmer Ridge (6-15) broke out with 21 points in the third quarter, and was led by Jordan Bryant’s 16 points. Nikki Rosas scored eight and Katie Spaulding added six for Discovery Canyon (7-9).
Castle View 41, Falcon 36
At Falcon: Janniqua Thomas scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds for Falcon (16-6), which couldn’t come back from a 21-17 halftime deficit against Castle View (6-16). Mary Wilmore added eight points, while Shelby Goniea and Kiah Hicks each finished with six.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 52, Ellicott 33
At St. Mary’s: The Pirates (10-8) outscored Ellicott (0-17) by 12 in the second half as Brent Harder scored 22 and Nick Padrnos added 11.
Doherty 96, Coronado 72
At Coronado: Ben Foley’s 33 points couldn’t lift the Cougars (8-14), who were outscored 53-25 in the first half. Tyler Velasquez led the Spartans (14-9) with 23 points, while teammate Dylan Sisneros chipped in 16.
Manitou Springs 67, Florence 32
At Manitou Springs: Led by Cole McQueeney’s 16 points, the Pikes Peak 3A-A No. 2 Mustangs (15-4) earned a share of the Tri-Peaks West lead.
“The kids knew they were playing for that conference lead, and we were pretty balanced all around,” Manitou Springs coach Ken Vecchio said. “We finished the regular season with a good effort.”
Liberty 49, Pine Creek 47
At Liberty: Nate Weeden hit nine of his 14 free throws as Liberty held off Pine Creek (3-19) in the final minutes.“We were up by eight in the fourth but they stormed back on us,” Lancers coach Jim Masterson said. “Nate hit his free throws there at the end to keep us ahead.”
The Lancers (10-12) played nine minutes without leading scorer Wes McKenzie, who finished with 22 points despite some second-half foul trouble.
Mitchell 75, Woodland Park 45
At Woodland Park: David Snipes and Mon’Darrius Benson each finished with 15 points as the Marauders (13-9) built on their 38-20 halftime lead over the Panthers (2-20).
Palmer 64, Cheyenne Mountain 45
At Cheyenne Mountain: Dustin Sisneros finished with 15 points, but the Indians (13-9) couldn’t overcome a 16-point first-half deficit against 5A-4A No. 5 Palmer (17-5).
Lewis-Palmer 99, Mesa Ridge 39
At Mesa Ridge: Josh Scott scored 24 points and Jordan Ververs added 21 as the 5A-4A No. 4 Rangers (17-5) got out to a 30-point lead after the first quarter. The Grizzlies (5-17) were led by 11 points from Nikita Smullen.
The Classical Academy 42, Peyton 36
At TCA: Weston Holmes hit four free throws in the final minute to lead the Titans (6-11) over Peyton (5-12).
“We basically got the pressure going on defense and were able to knock down those late free throws,” TCA coach Brandon Monson said. “This was a good way to send off our seniors.”
Bryant Thomas scored 13 for Peyton.
