BLOG: Go get your curl on

Curling is everywhere you turn these days. You can’t well, throw a stone and not hit a game or a mention.

On Facebook: Mike Rowe is curling.

On YouTube: Mike McEwen nails his spin-o-rama shot to the button time after time.

On TV: Team Coco is curling. Meaghan Collier’s curling.

Heck, Vernon Davis is curling with Arsenio Hall, for pete’s sake.

On Twitter: search #curling

On Pinterest (search for curling, or just check out one of my curling boards.

Curling is even in the news in my native sunny Southern California.

My friends at the Hollywood Curling Club sent me a link to a story on thrillist.com: “8 LA Sports Leagues You Should Acutally Join.” Naturally, curling made the list. Also on the list: Urban Sports LA (cornhole, kickball, flag football, volleyball, dodgeball), Eagle Rock Yacht Club Dodgeball (snicker), the Los Angeles Chessboxing Club (yeah, it’s a think – you alternately box and play chess…), bowling at ZogSports, the Santa Monica Rugby Club, and kickball at Planet Social Sports.

The Hollywood club is made up of some of the kindest, wackiest and most fun and creative people I’ve met through curling (right up there with the folks at the Orange County Curling Club, the Granite Curling Club in Seattle, the Capital Curling Club in Bismarck and the Chicago Curling Club).

Send me an email if you want to learn to curl (dena.rosenberry@gazettedev.gazette.com). See you on the ice!
