Police arrest man driving wrong way on I-25
Colorado Springs police arrested a 49-year-old man Wednesday on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after he drove the wrong way on Interstate 25.
Police received a call about a SUV traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-25 near the North Nevada Avenue interchange about 1:47 p.m.
An officer tried to stop the driver, identified as Scott Loos, near Garden of the Gods Road. “But the vehicle went around the officer, just missing his cruiser,” police said.
Officers deployed tire-deflation devices just south of Fillmore Street, flattening the front tires. Loos kept driving for about a quarter-mile before stopping.
State troopers helped detain Loos, who was taken to the hospital for an evaluation before he was arrested on suspicion of DUID, police said.
