A four-vehicle crash at Dublin and Union boulevards about 5:45 p.m. Monday sent four people to the hospital — one in critical condition — and closed Dublin in both directions for hours.

The crash happened when two cars on Union Boulevard, one northbound and one southbound, collided as one tried to make a left turn onto westbound Dublin, police said.

According to Trevor Long, an Acura Integra and a Ford Explorer crashed and spun out of control and crashed into his vehicle.

Long was stopped at the light in an eastbound lane of Dublin, and another vehicle stopped alongside him also was hit, said Colorado Springs police Sgt. Richard Duvall.

A man who was extricated from the Integra was taken to the hospital with a life-threatening head injury, police said. The woman who was driving the car also was taken to a hospital but the extent of her injuries was not available.

Duvall said the driver of the Explorer and the driver of the fourth car involved were also taken to the hospital, but neither had serious injuries.

Through their initial investigation, police have ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the crash.
