Homicide victim in B-street shooting identified

The man shot to death early Friday in a fight near Fort Carson has been identified as 25-year-old Joshua Fields.

Fields died from a single gunshot to the chest, and his death has been ruled a homicide by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office. It is the second homicide in unincorporated El Paso County this year.

Just after midnight Friday at the Stratmoor Shops on B Street, deputies found a 17-year-old who had been shot in the hand and shoulder who had sought help at a pizza place. He told deputies there was another victim nearby before being taken to a hospital.

Fields was found dead in front of an apartment in the 1600 block of Hampton Road South.

A third victim, 18-year-old Carlos Olguin, who had been stabbed in the head, back and neck, was found near Loomis Avenue and Dove Place.

Olguin, who is considered a person of interest in the shooting, is scheduled to be released from the hospital today, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Lari Sevene. He will arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Trinidad and deputies will attempt to interview him in the El Paso County jail.
