Gunshots were fired outside a house late Wednesday after Colorado Springs police responded to a domestic disturbance involving a “highly agitated” man, according to the Police Department.

Officers arrived to the 1100 block of Norwood Avenue around 10:45 p.m. and spoke with a “uncooperative” man and woman inside the home, according to a police blotter entry. Police say the man was agitated by the police presence, and that the woman said there was no problem.

While returning to their patrol vehicles, officers said they saw the man exit the home and heard the “rack” of a gun slide, prompting them to take cover. As they did, three gunshots rung out, but no one was hit.

The suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Marcus Curry, reentered his home, police said. After a brief standoff, Curry was arrested and the woman was found unharmed.

Curry was taken to the El Paso County jail, where he is being held on a $25,000 bond. He is being charged with attempted first-degree assault.
