Colorado dermatologist gives tips for smoother, cancer-free complexion

As the largest organ, skin serves as protection from the elements and toxins the body comes into contact with every day. Whether it’s the climate, age, skin condition or disease, there are countless ways in which your skin can be affected.

In a world of first impressions, your skin is the first thing someone sees and feels. Given how vital your skin is to your health and well-being, it makes sense to take care of it cosmetically as well as medically.

The dermatologists at Colorado Dermatology Institute (CDI) make it their mission to help patients become comfortable in their skin while providing them with the most up-to-date and comprehensive dermatologic care possible. CDI does this by offering comprehensive treatments and protocols for general dermatology issues, skin cancer to include Mohs Micrographic Surgery and cosmetic dermatology.

“My goal is to help my patients obtain safe and pleasing results, no matter what dermatologic treatment or service they receive. If I can help somebody to look and feel their best and be comfortable in their skin, I consider it a job well done,” said Susan (Ellis) Schroeder, M.D.

In addition to having recently joined Colorado Dermatology Institute two days a week (Mondays and Fridays), Dr. Schroeder is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus where teaches and operates a clinical practice.

Dr. Schroeder brings a wealth of knowledge to CDI, having completed formal fellowship training in Cosmetic and Surgical Dermatology and having specialized in this area in private practice and for the University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Dermatology.

Schroeder’s newly established hours at CDI will provide patients in the Pikes Peak region with greater treatment options to include services in general dermatology, Mohs Micrographic surgery and cosmetic procedures.

Addressing any aspect of aesthetic medicine from major resurfacing and tumescent liposuction to topical anti-aging products, Dr. Schroeder explains that cosmetic skincare treatments designed to restore, refresh and rejuvenate the health of your skin can range from facials to Botox/fillers to lasers for skin resurfacing.

Though state-of-the-art treatments and products are available to benefit the skin, Dr. Schroeder urges people of all ages to practice good skin care habits and truly know and monitor their skin.

While seeking care from a Board Certified Dermatologist is important, “Each of us has a responsibility to evaluate ourselves periodically,” said Dr. Schroeder.

During self-evaluations, if you do notice irregularities in your skin, it is important to seek the advice and the evaluation of a dermatologist as soon as possible. Dr. Schroeder said evaluating and catching skin concerns early makes treating the condition easier.

“It all goes back to the core philosophy at Colorado Dermatology Institute – to treat our patients in a holistic manner. If they do have problematic skin, we can help them address their skin concerns in a safe and professional environment with unsurpassed and experienced care,” Dr. Schroeder said.

Colorado Dermatology Institute is a full-service dermatologic care facility offering comprehensive treatments and protocols for general dermatology issues, skin cancer to include Mohs Micrographic Surgery and cosmetic dermatology.
