The best chicken sandwiches in Colorado Springs: A classic, a hidden gem and elevated twists
In this weekly feature, we’re celebrating the best of Colorado Springs’ food and drink scene — as determined by voters in the 2026 Best of the Springs (thebestofthesprings.com). We’ll throw in our own recommendation, too.
Up this week: Chicken sandwiches.
Gold: Chick-fil-A
The old reliable reigns supreme. What is it about this simple, American classic? Probably not one thing between the lightly breaded breast fried in peanut oil, the pickle chips and that buttery bun, but rather everything — with a side of waffle fries and nostalgia. Multiple locations
Silver: Rocky Bowl Bistro
Best of the Springs voters followed up the chain found everywhere with this small, local spot found only by those who know where to look. Tucked in a strip mall near Peterson Space Force Base, Rocky Bowl Bistro serves up Asian fusion. A “must try,” as it’s listed on the menu: the Thai street fried chicken sandwich. 6821 Space Village Ave.

Bronze: Atmosphere Gastropub
As the name might suggest, Atmosphere has taken bar food in the Springs to new heights. The north-side spot is a multi-category winner in the Best of for elevated fare, including the chicken sando. The menu showed a hot honey variety at last check, complete with a fig spread, creamy brie, cherry peppers and rainbow Swiss chard between buttered focaccia. 1327 Interquest Parkway
Our recommendation: Colorado Craft
Similar to Atmosphere, this downtown hangout is elevated yet grounded, refined yet casual. A good example: the McCraftie, which sounds like McChicken and is indeed listed as “a refreshing twist on a classic.” It’s buttermilk-fried chicken with a lemon garlic aioli, shredded lettuce and pickles on a hearty bun. It’s our favorite, while others go for spicy chicken and buffalo chicken sammies. 15 S. Tejon St.
