Summer is here, and I think I’ve got my summer soundtrack. 

Kurt Vile’s music could be the soundtrack to any summer, what with his sunny, breezy, easy-going style demonstrated by the popular track “Wakin on a Pretty Day.” But it’s not every summer we get a new Kurt Vile album, as we do now with “Philadelphia’s been good to te.”

It seems his native city has indeed been good to him. We hear Vile reflecting on his rebellious, winding youth and his family-focused present. He sounds content and then anxious, still that Philly boy searching maybe. Fortunately, we get to go along. ー Seth Boster
