Roads in North Cheyenne Cañon Park closed after weekend storm
North Cheyenne Canyon Road and Gold Camp Road in North Cheyenne Cañon Park remained closed on Monday because of storm impacts from Saturday night, according to a release by Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services.

The city described the impacts as “significant,” as the storms caused debris flow, road damage and unsafe conditions.
“Large amounts of scree and debris have moved onto North Cheyenne Canyon Road, and storm-related road damage has been identified on Gold Camp Road,” parks staff posted on social media early Sunday.
The Colorado Springs area received varying amounts of rain Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo and volunteer spotters.
Some parts of the city, including the southwest side that includes North Cheyenne Cañon Park, had around 2 inches of rain while the Colorado Springs Airport, the city’s official reporting station, only received a trace of precipitation.

Crews were assessing conditions and working to clear affected areas, but on Sunday there was no estimated timeline for reopening, the social media post stated.
Efforts continued on Monday as city crews worked to determine damage assessments and identify necessary repairs, according to a news release.
According to the city, road closures are prohibiting:
- vehicle access to Helen Hunt Falls
- all access to the Powell parking area to access Seven Bridges Trail
- bicycle access on all closed roads
Pikes Peak APEX mountain biking event organizers are coordinating with city officials to evaluate whether course modifications will need to be made this weekend, according to the release.
Trails in North Cheyenne Cañon Park remain open, but visitors are asked to avoid all roadways while the city works to repair them.
