Former Arizona State assistant coach Dana Borges has joined Colorado College’s staff as an assistant, Tigers hockey coach Kris Mayotte announced Monday. 

Borges focused on player development and recruitment during his three-year tenure with the Sun Devils. Arizona State won a school-record 24 games in the 2023-24 season before joining the National Collegiate Hockey Conference the following season. 

In their inaugural season in the NCHC, the Sun Devils made the conference’s Frozen Faceoff as one of the four remaining teams in the NCHC tournament. 

During his time in Tempe, Arizona, Borges recruited an All-American, multiple all-conference players and five NHL draft picks, including the program’s historic first first-round pick. 

“We are excited to welcome Dana to our staff,” Mayotte said in a release. “He brings a proven track record in elite player development and talent identification from his time at Arizona State and Colgate. Dana has an exceptional hockey mind with a strong ability to connect with players, which has translated into consistently high-level results.”

Prior to his time at Arizona State, Borges was a coach at Colgate for five seasons, serving as associate head coach in the final two years. 

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to join the Colorado College community. Throughout the process, it became clear that the values of the college and hockey program aligned with everything necessary to succeed on and off the ice,” Borges said in a release.

“It starts with the leadership provided by (Athletic Director) Lesley Irvine and Kris Mayotte and can be felt through everyone involved in the hockey program. I am eager to begin to help build upon the strong foundation established and continue to bring talented student athletes to Colorado Springs and work together as a group to become champions.”
