Rider suffers life-threatening injuries in I-25 crash near The Broadmoor World Arena

A rider is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being flung from his motorcycle while driving along Interstate 25 Saturday afternoon.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound near Exit 138, which is the exit for The Broadmoor World Arena, at around 12:15 p.m. when the crash happened.

When officers arrived, citizens were providing medical aid to the rider, who was rushed to a hospital. Officers learned that the rider had been thrown off his motorcycle into an embankment just east of the interstate. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

Another driver was involved in the crash but was not injured.

As of 3 p.m., the center lane is closed at Lake Avenue and mile post 137.7, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Police said the stretch of I-25 was experiencing “significant” delays earlier in the day.
