Peterson SFB honored for installation excellence
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced last week that Peterson Space Force Base has received the Commander-in-Chief’s Annual Award for Installation Excellence.
Each year, an installation from each of the service branches and the Defense Logistics Agency is chosen for the award.
Some of the other honorees included Fort Bliss in Texas, Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz., and Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
The award honors mission support, quality of life, unit morale, real property management, health care, security and public relations. The honor is meant to encourage commanders to promote innovative and creative ways of improving services, facilities and quality of life, according to the Space Force.
Peterson also won the award in 2023.
The Space Force is the smallest of the military branches and maintains six bases, along with smaller stations.
The Department of Defense maintains hundreds of sites across the U.S. and the world. A Department of Transportation database released in 2025 showed more than 800 DOD sites in the U.S.
