The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and La Junta police arrested a father and son who barricaded themselves in their apartment after allegedly pointing a gun at a neighbor, according to a news release by the state agency.

Police responded around 6:30 p.m. Thursday to the 1100 block of Raton Avenue in La Junta for a report of menacing. Tony Poland, 56, and James Poland, 29, barricaded themselves when the authorities arrived, law enforcement officials said.

Officers requested CBI’s assistance, obtained a search warrant and arrested both men without incident.

The Polands face charges of felony menacing, resisting arrest and failure to leave the premises. James Poland also faces charges of attempted second-degree burglary, criminal mischief and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, according to the release.

They were both advised on their rights in an Otero County courtroom Friday and are scheduled for their next hearings on June 18.

Public records indicate the pair lived together in Colorado Springs, and James Poland has one other Colorado criminal case history in El Paso County. Tony Poland has no other publicly available criminal cases in Colorado.

James Poland was featured in the Pikes Peak Crime Stoppers most wanted list in February, after allegedly menacing someone on Dec. 29. In that case, he faces charges of felony menacing with a real or simulated weapon and is set for an arraignment in an El Paso County courtroom Wednesday.

La Junta, the seat of Otero County, is about 105 miles southeast of Colorado Springs.
