Spinney Pike Management Tournaments

Spinney Mountain State Park, Lake George

Take part in a contest to help restore the balance of northern pike and trout through angler harvest. The tournament consists of three categories with prizes awarded monthly. All anglers must have a valid Colorado fishing license and a state park pass. Only northern pike harvested from Spinney Mountain Reservoir will be eligible for prizes. Shrikes & Bikes: A Colorado Grasslands Ride

Celebrate Colorado’s shortgrass prairie and the history of the loggerhead shrike as part of the Colorado 150 commemoration with a 20-mile or 60-mile gravel bike ride in Lincoln County. Ride through agricultural lands, wildlife habitats and renewable energy sites while listening to stories about the changing landscapes of the Eastern Plains from conservationists, ranchers and local leaders. Get Outdoors Day

At this family-friendly outdoor expo, you can try rock climbing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and more. Since the event coincides with Colorado’s Free Fishing Weekend, anyone can fish without a permit. Outdoor businesses and nonprofit organizations will be available to introduce everyone to a variety of outdoor activities in the Pikes Peak region: ppora.org/get-outdoors-day.

Gunnison River Festival
June 12-13
Taylor River and Gunnison Whitewater Park, Gunnison

Have fun at this two-day festival celebrating local rivers. Events include the Taylor Downriver Race, educational clinics, the Canine Big Air, a tube race, the Whitewater Olympics and kayaking. Stop by one of the many vendors, including the Gunnison Angling Society, CKS River Supply and Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and and be entered into a raffle.
