Notah Begay III among U.S. Senior Open qualifiers from Country Club of Colorado

Notah Begay III, a four-time winner on the PGA Tour and current golf analyst for the Golf Channel and NBC Sports, was among four to qualify for the U.S. Senior Open on Wednesday at Country Club of Colorado.

Begay shot an even-par 71, tying for second with amateur Brian Guetz and earning a spot in next month’s U.S. Senior Open at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio.

Caine Fitzerald carded the lowest score of the day at 2-under 69 – the only score under par. Fitzgerald has been a Colorado resident since 2001. He is the head golf professional at Meadow Hills Golf Course and coach at Lutheran High School.

The fourth qualifying spot went to Brad Lardon at 1-over, as he cleared a pack of three golfers tied at 2-over.

Other notables in the field were last year’s qualifiers Matt Schalk (+3) and Darrin Overson (+5) as well as Chris DiMarco (+3), a three-time winner on the PGA Tour.
