Meow Wolf ready to launch immersive performances with cosmic-costumes and interdimensional dance

Revamped and returning for its second year, Meow Wolf’s wonderfully-weird live performance “Phenomenomaly” will run Wednesdays through Sundays from June 5 through Aug. 9.

Meow Wolf’s Convergence Station, its aptly-named Denver location, is 90,000 square feet of more than 70 out-of-this-world art installations. On Friday, it will also begin a five-day-a-week dazzling live performance that The Denver Gazette got a sneak peek of.

The venue is “a playground of immersive possibility. You can hear that not only is it alive and its soundscape, but now we get to bring it alive through people,” Phenomenomaly’s performance activation director, Cerene Onsite, said.

The performance follows a cast of live actors, dancers and puppets on a journey through the expansive building in search of the elusive Flickerwerm migration. Guests will help the cast solve puzzles and search for the imaginary creatures.

While “Phenomenomaly” is coming to several other Meow Wolf locations this summer, Denver’s sprawling site offers some unique possibilities.

“We’re the largest exhibit so we have so much ground to cover…  we’ve just been able to integrate the story a little bit more physically into the building itself,” Onsite said.

Each week of the show will feature a different local act, highlighting Denver’s community of artists.

“We really wanted to make sure they’re getting spotlit and showcased for what they bring year-round… It’s going to be different every time,” Onsite added.
