A motorcyclist was struck and killed near the intersection of East Fillmore Street and North Prospect Street on Monday morning, according to a blotter entry by Colorado Springs police.

A truck eastbound on Fillmore was making an “unprotected left turn” into a parking lot when it hit the westbound motorcyclist, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

The driver of the truck, who was uninjured, has cooperated with police in their investigation of the crash, according to the entry. Speed is not considered a factor, and criminal charges have not been filed.

The crash closed roads nearby for almost three hours.

There have been 24 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs this year.
