Assault suspect arrested following lengthy standoff: Colorado Springs police

Colorado Springs police on Saturday arrested a barricaded assault suspect following an hours-long standoff, law enforcement officials said.

At about 7:45 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the 1100 block of Iowa Avenue. Upon arrival, they were able to assist two victims and get them to safety. The victims, one of whom suffered minor injuries, told police that the suspect had assaulted them.

During the investigation, officers learned that the suspect, identified as Jamie Salazar, 45, was hiding in the attic of a nearby residence. Tactical officers eventually found Salazar and took him into custody. He is being held without bail.

Salazar, 45, faces multiple charges including menacing and assault, according to police.
