Broncos retain assistant GM Reed Burckhardt as Vikings hire Nolan Teasley
Reed Burckhardt will remain the Broncos’ assistant general manager after not being selected to be general manager of the Minnesota Vikings.
Burckhardt had two interviews for the job, but the Vikings reached an agreement Saturday to hire Seattle assistant general manager Nolan Teasley.
Burckhardt had one interview with Minnesota by remote and one in person. He had spent 13 seasons with the Vikings in a variety of scouting positions, including director of pro scouting, before coming to Denver in 2022 as director of player personnel. He was promoted last year to assistant general manager.
When Burckhardt was with the Vikings, he worked for his first 12 seasons with George Paton, who is now the Broncos’ general manager and was Minnesota’s assistant general manager. Paton then brought him to Denver a year after he was hired in 2021.
The Vikings had an opening for a general manager after firing Kwesi Adofo-Mensah in January and then announcing they wouldn’t hire a replacement until after the April 23-25 draft. In addition to Teasley and Burckhardt, other finalists for the job were Minnesota interim general manager Rob Brzezinski, who will remain in the team’s front office, Buffalo assistant general manager Terrance Gray and Los Angeles Rams assistant general manager John McKay.
