Colorado Springs gun store closing its doors after nearly 50 years
A gun store in Colorado Springs is closing its doors for good after nearly a half-century in operation.
Shootin’ Den at 430 W. Fillmore St. has been a staple of the Colorado Springs firearms scene for decades. The company announced via Facebook that it would close June 12.
The store is trying to sell all inventory by that date, with some items discounted. On Tuesday, several glass display cases were void of firearms, but many remained.
The store still had a number of lever-action guns, popularized by Westerns starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood among others. Other items included various shotguns and several types of semi-automatic and bolt action rifles.
Shoppers can also find a plethora of handguns and revolvers, ammunition, targets, optics, scopes and other accessories.
“All sales final. … No refunds,” a sign posted on the front door said. “Thank you for the memories over the last 49 years.”
On social media, people lamented the loss of a local business they’ve known and shopped at for decades. Some had been shopping there since the 1980s, while others recalled getting their first firearms from the Shootin’ Den.
