80-year-old ID’d as victim of fatal Union Boulevard crash
Colorado Springs police identified the victim of a crash near Union Boulevard and Parkside Drive earlier this month as 80-year-old Paul Montoya, according to a news release by police.
Montoya’s northbound vehicle was hit in the right through lane of the intersection around 10 a.m. on May 8 after a vehicle attempted to turn left and collided with him.
Montoya was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police say they were notified of his death by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office on May 14.
No formal charges have been filed, and police continue to investigate the crash.
At the time of the crash, there had been 21 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs this year, according to police. There had been 65 traffic deaths in the past 12 months.
