Four people in Pueblo are in the hospital with serious injuries after a suspected drunken driver crashed into another vehicle late Thursday, according to the Pueblo Police Department.

Pueblo police responded to Hog Farm Road and Colorado 78 around 11:20 p.m. and found a Jeep with extensive damage off the south side of the road.

Officers learned that two of the four occupants had been ejected from the vehicle, and the driver needed to be extricated from the Jeep by a rescue team.

The officers also located a Ram pickup truck around 100 yards away and spoke to the driver, 54-year-old Jose Rojas-Fernandez, who police say appeared to be intoxicated.

Rojas-Fernandez was taken to a hospital for medical clearance and DUI processing. He was later booked into the Pueblo County jail and is facing charges that include driving under the influence, vehicular assault and careless driving causing seriously bodily injury.
