Las Vegas Lights FC downs Colorado Springs Switchbacks in first loss in nearly two months

Colorado Springs’ search for a road win in the USL Championship regular season continues.

The Switchbacks suffered their first regulation loss across all competitions since March 28 in a 2-0 defeat against Las Vegas Lights FC.

The Switchbacks and Lights weren’t playing basketball on Saturday but rebounds were the story of the game as they led to both Las Vegas goals.

Lights defender Blake Pope scored the first goal of the game in the second minute of stoppage time in the opening half.

Switchbacks (2-3-4) keeper Colin Shutler made a save on a shot from Las Vegas but punched the ball to the foot of Pope who scored on the second-chance opportunity.

In the 59th minute, Shutler denied a strike from Vegas defender Themi Antonoglou but deflected the ball to Lights leading scorer Johnny Rodriguez who capitalized off the rebound.

The Switchbacks travel to Oakland Roots SC next week.
