Police are investigating the suspicious death of a person found Wednesday morning inside a motel on South Nevada Avenue.

Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Nevada Avenue just after 11:30 a.m. after a report of the deceased person came in, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department. The motel is a few blocks away from Interstate 25.

Police said suspicious circumstances surrounding the death prompted homicide detectives to take over the investigation.

Authorities have not released the identity of the person. The cause and manner of death will be released by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
