The top 100 most popular Colorado baby names for 2025 are out — and there was a change atop the “girl name” list.

Charlotte surpassed Olivia in 2025 as the most popular girls’ name in Colorado. Charlotte has now taken the top spot three times in the last decade, including in 2023 and 2019, while Olivia has been No. 1 in Colorado in six of the past 10 years.

The U.S. Social Security Administration this week released the 2025 list based on Social Security card application data from last year.

Phonetically speaking, Sophia/Sofia has a strong case to be considered Colorado’s most popular girls’ name, with Sophia finishing 3rd overall and Sofia finishing 8th overall. If you combined the total number — 242 babies named Sophia, and 177 named Sofia — the 419 total would’ve made it Colorado’s most popular baby name overall.

But that distinction instead went to Liam, which took the top slot on the boys’ side of the ledger for the third consecutive year. With 397 boys named Liam in 2025, it was Colorado’s most popular baby name overall.

Theodore, meanwhile, surged up to No. 2 in the boys rankings as the name’s popularity continues to grow in Colorado. A decade ago, Theodore was the 45th most popular boys’ name in Colorado, and just five years ago, it was still ranked outside the top 10.

Nationally, Liam and Olivia were the most popular names, respectively.
