Here are 4 of the best barbecue spots in Colorado Springs
In this weekly feature, we’re celebrating the best of Colorado Springs’ food and drink scene ー as determined by voters in the 2026 Best of the Springs (thebestofthesprings.com). We’ll throw in our own recommendation, too.
Up this week: barbecue.
Gold: The Chuckwagon
On the Springs’ east side, fans line up before the doors open Thursday-Sunday ー before the brisket, pulled pork and ribs sell out. Also quick to sell out: the Texas Twinkie, a bacon-wrapped jalapeno stuffed with cream cheese and brisket. Another showstopper: the aptly named Beef Dino Bone. 6453 Omaha Blvd.

Silver: Bird Dog BBQ
For over 20 years, loyalty has grown around the meat that is proudly oak-smoked to honor the protein. While emphasized as an option, Bird Dog is proud of its sauces, too. They range from mild to “x-tra hot” to “wasabi-q.” 4153 Centennial Blvd.; 5984 Stetson Hills Blvd.; 6965 Mesa Ridge Parkway in Fountain
Bronze: Front Range Barbeque
The Old Colorado City restaurant closed last year for a remodel, but not before a day of free food and live music that reminded all why Front Range has been so beloved since 2000. It was with sadness and pleasure that we attended the party. And it was with excitement we recently heard about a secondary location opening on the other side of town. 2220 Academy Place
Our recommendation: BC’s Barbecue
BC’s slings smoked goods from a truck regularly at Lost Friend Brewing Co. And regularly, specials sell out, including the brisket burger. Other Tex-Mex specials include tacos and loaded elote (top it with barbacoa and thank us later). BC’s embraces a “new school” mantra while nailing the old school, too.
