Just one stroke separates Addison Dorsey from a share of the lead in the 2A state girls’ golf tournament.

The Manitou Springs junior shot a five-over-par 77 Monday at Lone Tree Golf Club and Hotel on Monday and is one stroke behind leader Quinn Roman of St. Mary’s Academy, who shot a 76 in the opening round.

Last year’s individual state champion, sophomore Sophia Lee of Colorado Academy is fourth and carded an 80 in the first round.

Dorsey played mostly even on the front nine and was one-under par through nine holes with birdies on holes 7 and 9. On the back nine, Dorsey had four pars, four bogeys and a double bogey on the 13^th hole to finish five over. Dorsey will tee off at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Only seven strokes separate the leader from the top eight. Denver Christian’s Sarah Farmer and Kent Denver’s Kaia Chand each finished the round 10-over-par 82 and are tied for sixth while Denver Christian’s Aspen Murphy sits in eighth with an 83.

James Irwin’s Ariel Aguilar is the next highest Pikes Peak region placer and is in a three-way tie for 45^th in the 84-player field. Aguilar wrapped the day with a 38-over-par 110 and will tee off at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday morning for the final round.

In team standings, Woodland Park is 11^th with a cumulative 353 from its qualified golfers. Panthers golfer Brandi McCorkell leads the trio of Woodland Park competitors with a 114 and is tied for 56^th. Evie Gutierrez is one stroke behind McCorkell at115 and is in a three-way tie for 58^th.

The Classical Academy is 12^th as a team and Bella Guzman finished the opening round with a 117 and is in a four-way tie for 61^st. Among that four-way tie is Vanguard’s Marissa Miller, the lone Courser to qualify for the tournament.
