Sports bar drafts downtown Colorado Springs for expansion

Denver’s homegrown The Sportsbook Bar & Grill is bringing its immersive, high-definition, high-density sports viewing experience to downtown Colorado Springs.

Located on the first floor of the Springhill Suites by Marriott at 402 S. Tejon St., facing the corner of Tejon and Costilla streets, it will be the fourth Sportsbook location in Colorado and the first in the Springs, co-owner and co-operator Jeremy Malone said.

The bar and grill is expected to open on May 29, with an official ribbon cutting and grand opening a week later on June 5.

The approximately 5,000-square foot space is undergoing a roughly $2.1 million commercial interior remodel, Malone said. The Sportsbook Bar & Grill will feature a state-of-the-art audio-visual system with dozens of massive, high-definition televisions, including a “video wall”; interior and patio seating; and an outside ordering area, offering guests a comprehensive game day atmosphere each time they enter.

Patrons can catch any sports game, Malone promises, from matches in the upcoming FIFA World Cup to NFL, MLB, NHL or NBA league games and college sports.

“It’s really cool. I don’t know if there’s another place like it,” Malone said. “We’re really excited to be here.”

While they’re watching their favorite teams play, guests can order from an expansive menu offering high-quality sports bar fan-favorites like buffalo chicken wings, nachos, pretzel bites, salads, a dozen kinds of burgers, macaroni and cheese, Philly cheesesteaks and more. Guests with a sweet tooth can choose from a select dessert menu featuring brownie and ice cream sundaes and a cookie with ice cream.

To wash it all down, The Sportsbook Bar & Grill offers craft, domestic and imported beers on draft or by the bottle.

Malone said the sports bar will bring something different than the modern fine dining concept offered by Lumen8 Rooftop Social located on the eighth floor of the hotel.

“We offer bar food, but it’s a chef-driven menu with what we call ‘upscale bar food,’” Malone said. “But it’ll be a very different crowd from those going to Lumen8.”

He and co-owner, co-operator and former colleague — they used to tend bar together before they became business partners — Judson Dymond founded the Sportsbook Bar & Grill in December 2012, opening their first location in Greenwood Village. They opened their Highlands Ranch location in 2021 and their third in Parker in October.

The business partners were looking to expand southward when the hotel reached out to them with the offer to open their fourth location there, and they jumped at it, Malone said.

“It was always our goal to grow to about four to five locations in the Denver to Colorado Springs area, so we’re really excited for the growth here,” Malone said.

The ongoing revitalization of the downtown area was another contributing factor, he added.

The number of residents living downtown last year was nearly double what it was in 2024, more people visited the area in 2025, nearly 40 new businesses opened and total sales increased nearly 7% from 2024, advocacy group the Downtown Partnership reported in March.

“We’re super glad to be here and be a part of the community,” Malone said.

The Sportsbook Bar & Grill will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 a.m., according to its website.
