Shake Shack opens second Colorado Springs location

Shake Shack, the New York-based chain known for its all-natural beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and hand-spun milkshakes, opened the doors to its second Colorado Springs location on Thursday.

“We take pride in operating every Shack, and hospitality is the key,” the restaurant’s general manager, Evan Gasper, said. He gathered with the restaurant’s team members for a ribbon cutting ceremony ahead of the location’s 10 a.m. opening at 7465 N. Academy Blvd., in the Shops at Falcon Landing shopping center.

“To the community we’re in: We’re excited to be here and to be a part of your lives, from families coming in to share a meal to those who stop in late night for a bite,” he said.

It is Shake Shack’s 12th location in the state, the company said in a media notice this week.

A list of Colorado stores on its website early Thursday showed 10 locations, including the Springs’ first Shake Shack restaurant that opened in late 2023 at 9723 Federal Drive in the InterQuest Town Center on the city’s north side. Other locations are throughout Denver, including inside the airport, and in Boulder, Castle Rock, Greenwood Village, Highlands Ranch and Lone Tree.

In January, Shake Shack Chief Executive Officer Rob Lynch told investors the brand opened 45 new company-operated locations in 2025 and want to build another 55 to 60 throughout 2026.

The latest Colorado Springs location is the brand’s 400th company-owned Shake Shack in the U.S. and the 10th-company owned in Colorado, Area Manager Shawn Parker said Thursday. He could not disclose whether Shake Shack plans to open additional locations throughout the state.

The brand is expanding locally because the city shares Shake Shack’s values, Parker said: Stand for something good, set the standard, nurture your communities and commit to people.

“The community stands for what we stand for. From Colorado Springs’ military ties to the United States Air Force Academy in town, Colorado Springs stands for something good. We’ve built a great, strong partnership with the community since we first opened on InterQuest and we’re continuing that,” he said.

Reflecting their commitment to the community, Shake Shack donated $1 for each sandwich sold at the North Academy location on Thursday to Care & Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado.

With other well-known burger brands operating throughout town such as In N Out, Whataburger, Smashburger and Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, Shake Shack stands out from the competition because of its chef-inspired menu, high-quality ingredients, exceptional hospitality, commitment to environmental sustainability and its local partnerships, Parker said.

Shake Shack was founded in Madison Square Park in New York City in 2004, according to its website. Today, the brand has more than 450 restaurants in the United States, as well as nearly 160 locations throughout Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

It is known for its high-quality, 100% Angus beef; chicken sandwiches made with whole white meat; crispy crinkle-cut fries, hand-spun shakes and frozen custard; flat-top hot dogs; a variety of lemonades, teas and soft drinks; and its signature ShackMeister beer.
