7 more must-see markets in the greater Pikes Peak region

1. Woodland Park Farmer’s Market
For the 36th year, the Woodland Park Farmer’s Market will return in June, every Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Memorial Park on Henrietta Avenue and Center Street.
Live music will accompany dozens of vendors, selling farm fresh produce and handcrafted goods, with a new surprise every week until September.
Just before Thanksgiving, market organizers throw a winter market, where vendors sell farm raised meat, holiday wreaths, gifts, and other handcrafted items. Check it out on the Saturday before Thanksgiving at the Ute Pass Cultural Center, at 210 East Midland Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
2. Fountain Community Market
Every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Fountain Community Market at Metcalf Park will pop up at 618 East Ohio Ave., running late May through September.
This year is the Market’s 10th season, bringing more vendors than ever before. Shoppers can find fresh produce, unique handcrafted goods, art, home-baked pastries and more.
3. Backyard Market — Black Forest
Black Forest’s farmer’s market, the Backyard Market, is among the largest on this list, with 60 vendors showing up every Saturday, May 23-Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of Shoup and Black Forest roads.
With live music, a nutritionist and educational kids corner, the market is a family event, and organizers say that it is the largest producer-only market in the greater Colorado Springs area. Shoppers can expect to see new faces and products, each week.
4. Monument Hill Farmer’s Market
The Monument Hill Farmer’s Market, located at the heart of Monument at 66 South Jefferson Street, will pop up every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from late May to early October.
The market, which was established in 2009, features around 45 vendors selling a variety of homemade goods. New faces can be found, every week.
5. Banning Lewis Ranch Community Market
On the northeast tip of Colorado Springs, the Banning Lewis Ranch Community Market will pop up every Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at 6885 Vista Del Pico Blvd., from May 28 to Aug. 27.
Dozens of vendors can be found weekly, selling goods like home-baked pastries and breads, jams and jellies, and other handcrafted goods.
6. Western Museum of Mining and Industry Market
Every Monday and Wednesday, the Western Museum of Mining and Industry, located at 225 North Gate Blvd., will host its own farmer’s market from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., June through October.
Vendors will sell a variety of goods, including fresh produce and salsa, home baked breads, meats and more.
7. The Royal Gorge Farmer’s Market – Cañon City & Florence
The Royal Gorge Region Farmer’s Markets will pop up in Cañon City and Florence, every week, each with local vendors selling dozens of hand-made and home-produced goods.
The Cañon City market will feature over 50 vendors, selling items like locally grown fruits and vegetables, cut flowers, baked goods, cheese, eggs and more, spanning three blocks, from the 500 to 700 blocks of Main Street, every Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., July through September,
The Florence market may have fewer vendors, but the loss will be made up by alpaca wool spinning demonstrations and a local animal shelter, which brings adoptable pets. The Florence market will pop up at Pioneer Park from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., every Thursday from June 4 through Oct. 8.
