Space Training and Readiness Command schedules hiring fair Thursday
Space Training and Readiness Command is holding a hiring fair on Thursday in Colorado Springs as part of a push to fill about 400 positions across several locations.
The command is in the process of moving from Colorado Springs to Patrick Space Force Base in Florida, but it still intends to fill positions within Space Delta 11, focused on test and training environments and Space Delta 12, a unit focused on test and evaluation of weapons and tactics. Both units are headquartered at Schriever Space Force Base.
A similar recent hiring fair at Patrick Space Force Base, south of Cape Canaveral, drew intense interest, said Maj. Ryan DeCamp, a spokesman for Space Training and Readiness Command, also known as STAR Command.
“We expected a few hundred and we got over 1,000,” he said. It was a mix of folks with decades of experience and people looking for their first job out of college, he said.
The hiring push is happening as the Space Force as a whole prepares to potentially double its staff size over the next decade, he said.
An online list of positions on STAR Command’s website shows opportunities in budget analysis, contracting, information technology, management and program analysis, operations research, among others.
The list on the website shows about 30 positions at Peterson Space Force Base, about 45 positions at Schriever and two positions at the Air Force Academy.
The list also includes many positions at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California and Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.
DeCamp cautioned the list might not be fully up to date.
Space Systems Command is not attending the upcoming career fair, but it is in the middle of staffing up and recently held hiring events at Peterson Space Force Base and the annual Space Symposium at The Broadmoor. Those events drew several hundreds resumes, said Bonnie Poindexter, a spokeswoman for Space Systems Command.
The command is also looking to hire more than 800 people by the end of the fiscal year, she said.
The hiring fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Innovation Hub, 2424 Garden of the Gods Road, Suite A350.
