Colorado Springs weather: Heat records could fall this week

Colorado Springs residents should expect a string of warm, sunny days this week, with highs reaching the 80s, according to Gazette news partner KOAA.

“Highs (Monday) will jump up as much as 15-20 degrees from (Sunday),” said Alan Rose, a News 5 meteorologist. “The 80s will continue through Thursday, with the potential for near record-breaking warmth in the mid-week period.”

Monday is expected to be sunny and mildly breezy, with a high of 81 degrees. Temperatures should gradually climb as the week progresses, topping out at 86 degrees on Thursday.

Monday’s record high in Colorado Springs is 87, according to the Weather Service.

Thunderstorms are possible later this week, with Friday offering the best chance for rain, Rose said.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 82 degrees. Wind speeds of 5-10 mph.

Wednesday: A 10% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Sunny, with a high near 85.

Thursday: Chance of showers and thunderstorms possible after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 86.

Friday: A 10% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Sunny, with a high near 81.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 82. Wind speeds 5-15 mph.
