Classical music station KCME 88.7 calls itself “an oasis of beauty and sanity.” That’s exactly why it’s my go-to in the car. KCME has been a go-to for orchestra-loving listeners around southern Colorado since 1979. And in these uncertain times for public radio, I hope the station lasts for generations to come — along with sister station Jazz 93.5. As time seems to move faster and faster, it’s this kind of music that slows us down and takes us back. — Seth Boster

Colorado Springs Philharmonic

After more than two years and more than 250 applicants from around the world, our acclaimed Colorado Springs Philharmonic has a new music director and conductor, the French-born Chloé Dufresne. It’s also the first time in the nonprofit’s almost century-old history that a woman is at the helm. Her first concert with the Philharmonic came in October. She’ll continue to live in Paris and will travel to the Springs, increasing her appearances in future seasons. — Jennifer Mulson

Come for the live music, stay for the unbelievable sunsets. I attended the 311 concert this past summer and was blown away by the sound, the production value and the fact that there seemingly wasn’t a bad seat in the house. With a variety of seating options from standard tickets and the open lawn to fire suites and the Owners’ Club, there’s certainly a spot for everyone. This not-so-secret hidden gem comes to life during its summer concert series, which is set to start in late-May this year. Dubbed “Wednesday Nights in the Garden,” attendees can listen to live music from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. while wandering the sprawling and eclectic space. The Emo Night Tour at The Black Sheep

The Emo Night Tour only stops at The Black Sheep every few months, but the wait is always worth it. DJs spin nostalgic emo and pop-punk anthems from bands such as Taking Back Sunday and Blink 182, recreating the energy of Warped Tour without the long lines and sunburn. Celebrating 20-plus years as a Springs staple, The Black Sheep still doubles down on loud, sweaty and unapologetic nights that remind you why the scene never really died. — Kelly Spieker
