Colorado Springs police summon 26 after allegedly street racing, ‘taking over’ parking lot

Officers stopped over 20 vehicles that allegedly were street racing and conducting a “takeover” of a parking lot, according to a blotter entry by the Colorado Springs Police Department on Wednesday.

Officers made contact with the vehicles in a lot in the 2700 block of Palmer Park Boulevard on Saturday, leading to 26 people being summoned for trespassing and “taking over” the private lot after hours.

The group of vehicles had moved around from several locations that evening, including a lot in the 1600 block of South Circle Drive, prompting numerous calls to police beginning around 10:30 p.m., the entry states.

Six CSPD officers were able to “detain the vehicles,” except one, which drove over a curb and fled from officers before being tracked down by a police drone. That driver, whose identity police did not release, faces charges of reckless driving and obstructing a peace officer, according to police.
