It usually starts with something small: a leaky roof, an outdated kitchen or a backyard that never quite feels finished.

Then come the questions: Who do I call? How much will it cost? Where do I even begin?

For homeowners in Colorado Springs, that process doesn’t have to stretch over weeks of research and DIY contemplation. 

Instead, it can start at the Colorado Springs Event Center, as attendees walk down rows of booths to compare ideas, ask questions and see their dream home come to life at The Springs Home Show.

For one weekend in May, home improvement isn’t just a project; it’s an educational experience located at 3960 Palmer Park Blvd. 

The event will run from noon-6 p.m., Friday, May 1; 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, May 2; and 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday, May 3.

The Springs Home Show marketing and operations director, Sol Lee, said the goal of the event is to “create a one-stop shop where homeowners can explore ideas, compare options and connect directly with professionals.”

“We’re excited about the range of exhibitors this year, particularly those showcasing outdoor living solutions, energy-efficient upgrades and modern home technologies,” he said. “There’s a growing interest from homeowners in functional outdoor spaces and sustainability, and we’ve made sure to bring in vendors who specialize in those areas.”

Some of this year’s vendors include Five Star Painting of Colorado Springs, HOMEfix, Leaf Home Bath and Top of the Peak Landscaping, among others. 

“Each day offers the same full access to exhibitors, but the experience can vary depending on attendance flow and who you’re able to connect with,” he said. “Some attendees choose to come back a second day to revisit vendors, ask follow-up questions or take advantage of special show-only discounts after they’ve had time to think through their options.”

For Superior Fence & Rail of Colorado Springs, the company’s marketing coordinator, Tania Blythe, said they’re offering $250 off 100 linear feet if a fencing appointment is booked at the show. 

“You really get to be in front of people at these events who are actually interested,” Blythe said. “Everyone can do mailers and go knock on doors and all that, but when you attend a home show, it’s really because they’re actually looking to improve their home, and we’re the perfect people to talk to.” 

The local fencing vendor will be one of many exhibitors with live demonstrations and products available for attendees to view.

“You can touch, feel and see different ideas of what kind of fences we offer in real time,” Blythe said. “From wood, vinyl, steel options and chain link, we even have a six-foot privacy fence ready to go in the booth.” 

The sixth annual home show, sponsored by GS Exterior Experts and Lifetime Home Remodeling, will return to the Norris Penrose Event Center in November, but for now, Coloradans can attend the show for free the entire weekend.

“We want to remove barriers and make it easy for anyone in the community to access valuable home improvement resources,” he said. “Starting a home project can definitely feel overwhelming, but the show simplifies that by bringing multiple qualified professionals together in one place. Instead of spending weeks researching online, attendees can ask questions, compare services and build confidence in their decisions all in a single visit or during a weekend.”
