Foodies, rejoice! Mile High Asian Food Week returns for fourth year
Mile High Asian Food Week, a weeklong celebration of Colorado’s growing Asian-American culinary scene, is back for its fourth year, with even more venues to visit and food to enjoy.
“It has been pretty neat to see the growth, year after year,” said co-founder Joanne Liu. “There has been an outpouring of love and interest in Asian Food Week, and it’s exciting to see.”
In her “day job” as CEO of the nonprofit Asian Girls Ignite, Liu often connects Asian-American youths with community members who can serve as role models. As she developed relationships in Denver’s culinary community, an idea began to take shape.
“I ended up meeting a lot of chefs and business owners who are Asian women,” said Liu, who grew up in Massachusetts.
“I’d heard of other cities having Asian food week celebrations, so I proposed the idea to some friends in the industry, and a few months later we launched our first one. That was 2023.”
More than 50 restaurants, vendors, pop-ups and food trucks participated in the first celebration. This year, there will be more than 70, including Baon Supper Club, which specializes in Filipino cuisine.
“It’s very cool that the celebration has reached Colorado Springs,” Liu said. “We’re hoping to get even more participation in the future.”
As the celebration has grown, so has the range of offerings. Now, in addition to restaurants and food trucks, there are Boba shops, coffee shops and other venues. Participating businesses will offer special discounts, secret menu items, and other perks, Liu said.
“You can check out a new spot you’ve been meaning to try, or you can revisit one of your favorites,” she said. “You can get together with a group of friends, or grab some takeout on your way home from work. There are lots of ways to celebrate Asian Food Week.”
The 2026 Mile High Asian Food Week celebration is from Sunday to May 3.
