Fort Carson will hold its first KidsFest Saturday afternoon, a free gathering for all children in military families across the community.

The festival will feature music, live entertainment, caricature artists, balloon artists, face painting, a color run, superhero guests and other activities to celebrate the month of the military child. During color runs participants run through clouds of colored powder.

To celebrate the theme, Every Story Matters, kids are invited to dress up as their favorite storybook characters and participate in a parade.  

Food and drink will be available for purchase.

The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. at the Red Cloud and Kit Carson soccer fields behind the Ivy Fitness Center. The color run will be at 12:30 p.m., and the parade is planned for 2 p.m.
