Two residents of a Colorado Springs condominium complex were displaced after a fire Thursday, according to the Fire Department.

The department responded to the two-alarm fire shortly after 7:30 a.m. at the Hunting Meadows Condominiums on the southeast side of the city. It was extinguished with no injuries to residents, officials said. Two units were impacted.

White smoke and flames could be seen rising from the building as crews battled the fire near Jet Wing Drive and Chelton Road. Some of the second-alarm units were released about an hour after it began, according to the Fire Department.

While no people were injured, a cat that was rescued did not survive despite emergency responders performing lifesaving measures.

Several nearby workers from Gordon Construction helped aid residents evacuate before firefighters arrived, according to the Fire Department.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
