Help Fountain Creek Nature Center celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day by joining in on a birthday party for Grandfather Cottonwood.

The cottonwood tree is believed to be about 150 years old with a trunk of 20 feet around and a height that is five stories tall.

After a short presentation, help remove invasive plant species and trash from along the nature trail and then meet under Grandfather Cottonwood’s branches to enjoy a sweet treat and participate in a pollinator-friendly craft.

The event, which is best for ages 8 and older, is 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at Fountain Creek Nature Center, 320 Peppergrass Lane, Fountain. Cost is $4-$5. Call or go online to register: 719-520-6745, elpasocountynaturecenters.com.
