A man is dead and a woman is in jail after a shooting unfolded at an east Colorado Springs home late Friday.

Officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department arrived to the 1500 block of East Buena Ventura Street just before midnight and found the man with at least one gunshot wound to the torso, according to an online blotter entry from the department.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers also found a woman inside the residence and learned that she had shot the man following a “disturbance” inside the home, police said.

The Police Department’s homicide unit has taken control of the investigation.

Police said in a Saturday afternoon update that the woman, 23-year-old Danna Corral-Montelongo, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.

She was being held at the El Paso County jail, according to police.
