Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards’ status uncertain for Game 1

Starting the series off right might be a little easier for the Nuggets than expected.

Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is officially listed as questionable for Saturday’s Game 1 at Ball Arena due to right knee injury maintenance, according to the team’s official injury report. Edwards was working out on the court during Minnesota’s media availability at Ball Arena on Friday afternoon. Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said earlier in the week that Edwards was a full participant in practice.

Denver will be without Peyton Watson, who remains sidelined with a right hamstring strain, while Spencer Jones is questionable. Jones last played in the March 29 win against the Warriors when he strained his hamstring. No other Nuggets are listed on the team’s injury report.

The injury held Edwards out of 11 of Minnesota’s final 14 games of the regular season. He is ineligible for award nominations after appearing in 61 games this season.

Edwards leads the Timberwolves in scoring with 28.8 points per game. He also averaged 5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals to lead Minnesota to the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference.

The only other players on Minnesota’s injury report are two-way players who are ineligible for the postseason.
