Pickup truck driver identified in fatal Colorado Springs rollover crash
A pickup truck driver who died in an April 12 crash on Colorado Springs’ north side has been identified, according to a news release Friday from police.
Officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department found the driver, 35-year-old Alex Dean, being given medical aid when they arrived to the crash location of Dublin Boulevard and Gambol Quail Drive West.
The crash took place just after 1 p.m. Dean was taken to a hospital, where police said he died. He was later identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators say speed is a suspected factor in the crash, where the driver hit a raised rock barrier and then rolled the vehicle.
This is the 14th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs so far this year. At the same time last year, there were seven.
