Man who died in scooter crash in Colorado Springs identified

A man who was struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter in southeast Colorado Springs and later died has been identified.

Preliminary findings from the Colorado Springs Police Department show 34-year-old Allen Brewer was crossing the intersection of Circle Drive and Fountain Boulevard during the afternoon of March 14 when he was struck by a car.

Brewer was taken to a hospital, where police said he died, according to a news release Friday from police. He was identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.

According to an update from police, speed nor impairment are suspected factors in the crash. No formal charges have been filed while police continue their investigation.

The crash was the 13th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs so far this year. At this same time last year, there were six.
