48-year-old man identified as motorcyclist killed in Colorado Springs crash

Police on Friday identified the man who died in a crash on April 7 in Colorado Springs as 48-year-old Michael DeRivera.

DeRivera’s motorcycle collided with a pickup truck around 8:45 a.m. near Corporate Drive and Mark Dabling Boulevard. DeRivera suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to police.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries and has not been charged in the crash. Police believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash and are continuing to investigate it.

There have been 12 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs this year, twice the number that the city had by April 17 in 2025.
