Woman in critical condition after water rescue at Quail Lake
A woman is in critical condition after falling in Quail Lake and not resurfacing Tuesday, according to reports from officials and Gazette news partner KOAA.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department said the woman was recovered and taken to a Colorado Springs hospital.
Fire Department spokesperson Ashley Franco said they were dispatched to the lake at 11:20 a.m. Witnesses guided firefighters to the spot where the near-drowning happened.
The witnesses told the first responders that they saw the woman pacing back and forth along the dock before she jumped in and didn’t come back up.
“We searched the water in that area (and) saw some bubbles coming up,” Franco said. “We were able to get in and rescue her with one of our hooks.”

Quail Lake is located in the Stratmoor Hills area east of Colorado 115 and near Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard on the city’s south side.
