Colorado Springs residents can expect a warm, breezy Monday, with elevated fire danger, following a weekend that saw several fires across the southern part of the state, according to Gazette news partner KOAA.

“A Red Flag Warning will go into effect for our entire coverage area at 11 a.m., lasting until 9 p.m. this evening,” said News 5 meteorologist Alan Rose. “Wind gusts will be around 35-45 mph in most areas, with gusts over 50 mph in mountain areas.”

Monday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high in the low 70s, according to Rose, who added that another red flag warning has already been issued for Tuesday.

“During the day on Tuesday, a cold front will move in from the north, dropping highs down to the middle 60s,” he said.

A possible reprieve from the warm and dry conditions comes Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, with a 50% chance of precipitation around Colorado Springs. The possibility of a rain and snow mix comes with an expected high of 60 degrees and wind gusts as high as 30 mph.
