Two Air Force men’s basketball assistant coaches will remain on staff for the 2026-27 season. 

Jon Jordan and Capt. Sid Tomes will be part of new head coach Joe Crispin’s staff, it was announced Friday. 

The announcement comes after Crispin welcomed Carson Cunningham (associate head coach), Eric Brennan (assistant coach) and Michael Lyons (assistant coach) to his staff earlier this week.  

“Jon Jordan and Capt. Sid Tomes love the game of basketball and the Academy,” Crispin said in a press release. “They know what it takes to thrive in this program and I am confident they will help us write a great story for Air Force Basketball in the years ahead. I am thankful to have them with us!”

Jordan, a 1985 academy graduate and four-year letter winner with Falcon basketball, has been an assistant coach at Air Force for nine seasons. Jordan was tabbed interim head coach for the final 15 games of the 2025-26 season after the suspension and eventual departure of Joe Scott. 

The Air Force retiree’s primary role will be the “operations aspect” of the team, according to the press release. 

Tomes, also a four-year letter winner with Air Force basketball (class of 2020), returns for his second year as an assistant coach. During his senior year at the academy, Tomes shot 84.6% from the free-throw line, which led the team and ranks 10th all-time at Air Force in a single season. 

Before coaching at the academy, Tomes served three years at Fort Meade while also coaching at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C.
